BIOBOT PLASTICITYKersnikova Institute, Kapelica Gallery, Ljubljana22. December 2022
The artist creates an arthropod robot by utilizing AI to calculate the most successful or interesting iterations, based on electrical signals from neurons. These neurons are reprogrammed from the artist’s own fat cells and placed on a multi-electrode array (MEA), similar to a brain-on-a-chip, which can control the robot’s movement in space.
This exhibition will feature various forms of these unique arthropod robots, which were solely created through algorithmic logic and laboratory experimentation. The functionality and potential for movement beyond what is observed in nature can be questioned.
